The Kentucky Airborne Chapter is an affiliate of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, Inc. Our chapter continues to reach-out to all our Airborne Comrades across the entire state to become members of our fine organization by personal contact and informational newsletters. At present, the Kentucky Chapter is the only active chapter in Kentucky, and Northern Tennessee with members from Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, North Carolina and even as far away as California. Many of us have had the opportunity to serve in several airborne units and find it difficult to align with any particular unit. The Kentucky Airborne Chapter and of course the 82nd Airborne have no bias for we are all AIRBORNE at heart. It is a special meaning/feeling and a memory that will never go away. Once Airborne, Always Airborne!
The Kentucky Airborne Chapter tries to reach out to former 82nd troopers and other airborne troopers who are not members of an airborne chapter. We have former Paratroopers and Glidermen from all U.S. Airborne Divisions active, and in-active. Also former Special Forces, Airborne Rangers, Marine Force Recon, Navy UDT/SEALS, Special Boat Units and U.S. Air Force special operators. Signing-up and renewing your membership through our chapter, makes it possible for the chapter to retain a portion of the dues to support activities of the chapter.
Unfortunately, many find it difficult to attend monthly meetings. But that is not a problem with this chapter for many who are members locally are not able to attend. The main point is support to stay active, and for those members unable to attend meetings, the chapter will always keep the entire membership in mind during their deliberations
Our chapter meetings are on the third Saturday of each month with the Board of Directors and General Membership at 1:00 PM. Typically we conduct our meetings at a VFW or American Legion Post. Occasionally, we change monthly meeting for special event. Check our Calendar to confirm the location of our next meeting.
There are several chapter events each year that maybe a member more distant could find a way to attend. We announce them a few weeks in advance. Usually, we have a couple of picnics and a Christmas Party.
